I was following this couple for a couple of blocks trying to get a good shot of her pleated white trench coat--very feminine but sleek and modern at the same time

Asymetrical
At the risk of sounding gushy, I love everything about this, from the asymetrical haircut to the patterned stockings

Fisher Gibson Nash Part 2
More photos from the Red Carpet...
It was cold enough for people to wear coats, and I was surprised at the variety of styles. I love the gathers at the hem of the shiny blue one and the sharp military detail on the black.
These two women were another study in contrasts--elegant black and white and funky bohemian
There was definitely some good Bling on display, like this pearl multistrand necklace
and this pretty floating silver necklace

Fisher Gibson Nash
As I had mentioned in a previous post, I had offered to play "Red Carpet Paparazzi" at a fundraiser held on April 22nd at the London Club. The fundraiser, Fisher Gibson Nash, was in support of the Art Therapy program at the Children's Hospital, and featured clothing by Fisher & Company, art from the Gibson Gallery, and jewellery from Nash Jewellers, in addition to ice wine martinis, delectables and tunes spun by DJ Ryan Conway. As the Forest City Fashionista, I was more concerned with what people were wearing, and was happy to see that most people made an effort to dress for the occasion. As to be expected, there was a lot of black, but there were a few women who managed to incorporate some shine and even some stripes into the mix, as evidenced by the photos below (I will post more photos from this event tomorrow)
Close-fitting black leather was the jacket of choice
Again, black leather paired with stripes and a bit of shine. I loved her grey shoes!
Great cuff and collar detail on this eye-catching shiny coat
These black and silver sling-backs were definitely the most eye-catching shoes

Anthropologie
This young woman was working in one of my favourite stores, Anthropologie, and I find it inspiring that the staff are always so well-dressed--there is a lot of mixing prints and bright colours. I loved her very spring-like print dress, especially paired with the white leather ankle booties.

Not-So-Mellow Yellow
It's not only the traffic-stopping colour, but the material (Leather!) that makes this coat a unique statement piece. She said she got it at Roman's Leather, where I know they have made some amazing custom items including the purple coat that appeared on this blog here

What To Wear When You Defend Your Thesis
Because this adorable dress obviously brought her luck (and I think the bright red bag helped too) Congratulations Meg!

OMG, The Shoes!
I'm sorry, but when I was in high school, the boys definitely did NOT look like this. Check out the unbelievably cool shoes these guys are wearing:

Fundraiser-- A Party in Fashion, Art and Bling
And who doesn't love Fashion, Art and Bling? Fisher & Company, Michael Gibson Gallery and Nash Jewellers are teaming up to bring you Fisher Gibson Nash, a fundraiser in support of the Art Therapy Program at Children's Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre. This event will be held on Thursday, April 22nd at the London Club, 177 Queens Avenue, from 8 pm to 11 pm. The evening will feature a DJ, beverages and delectable nibblies, in addition to models wearing some of the new Spring styles, beautiful contemporary artwork and great bling such as art deco jewels by Faberge. Tickets are $85, and available at the three participating retailers. Of course, the best reason to attend would be to have your photo taken by yours truly. The Forest City Fashionista will be on the red carpet, doing her best "E-Talk Host" imitation. I will also be on the lookout for the most stylishly dressed attendees to shoot for my blog, so put on that great dress, because I may be asking you "And who are you wearing this evening?"

Sunday Afternoon Stroll Pt. 2
When I saw this couple walking down the street ahead of me, all I could think was, oh wow, I've got to see this from the front....
And that folks, is style. Whether you love it or hate it, they stood out from everyone else on the street that day.

Attention to Detail
This guy may have thought I was a bit nuts when I stopped him on campus and was gushing over how great he looked, but really, how can you not gush? He looks so well put-together, and he's incorporated great individual details--the patterned belt, a bow tie, and the earrings. It was like finding a rare tropical bird in a flock of sparrows! Biker Chic
When I saw this woman getting on her bike outside Holt Renfrew I immediately pounced on her for a photo. I love the bright red jacket, and that she's working the short plaid skirt with the boots. We chatted for a bit and she informed me that she is 60, which I still can't believe. She makes it look like something to aspire to rather than something to fear.

Cool Glasses Pt. 2
I don't know if she'd appreciate it or not, but I think this young woman is so cute, from her hair down to her pink and black shoes.

Vintage Frames
I noticed this woman's sunglasses as we were both waiting to cross at a light, and when I asked if I could take her photo, she was a bit reluctant, so I had to convince her that I was paying her a compliment on her style. I love the shape of the frames, which she found at Courage My Love in Kensington Market. I also liked her jewellery, and the oversized shawl that she was wearing--a great transition piece from winter to spring.

In The Red
Don't see too many guys wearing red (which is a shame, because on dark-haired guys it looks great), so I was glad to find one guy on campus last week who had abandoned the winter drab in favour of a great punch of colour. Love the red deck shoes with the rolled up pants.

Blue with Attitude
I wanted a colourful post for Easter, and this young woman provides the burst of bright I was looking for. I've noticed that there has been a resurgence of "Manic Panic" hair colour (remember the temporary colour popular years ago that came in colours like fuschia and turquoise?). As a fan of hair colour myself, I'm happy to see someone who isn't afraid to rock a gorgeous blue like this (with lime green braids!) She's got her own cool style and the confidence to carry it off.

The Ankle Strap Wedge
One of the joys of warmer weather is that one can now wear shoes, instead of boots (although, with the invention of the UGG, it is now possible to wear boots all year round). I prefer to have my footwear reflect the season, and if I owned the shoes pictured above, I'd be showing them off on the first snow-free day. I love ankle straps!

How to Wear a Stole
And I didn't think anyone under the age of 40 even knew what a stole was! This young woman was on her way to the theatre, and proves that dressing up for an evening out does not always have to mean 6 inch heels and a tube dress. She found the fur stole at a Goodwill, and I think it looks great over her coat. The patterned stockings and silk rosette evening bag add add just the right modern-vintage vibe to her outfit.
