Just Hangin' Around

On Sunday, my friend Heather asked if I would take a family photo for her as she had a relative visiting from the States.   It was incredibly hot, so we didn't waste time dilly dallying, but I did seize the opportunity to get an outfit photo in a location other than my porch or the stairwell at work. I found this pair of overalls/romper at Kind Exchange in Toronto, and I think it's going to be a hot weather wardrobe staple this summer.    The brand is Skunkfunk, which I wasn't familiar with so through the magic of the interweb, I learned that the brand was started in 1996, in the Basque Country (North of Spain) and offers funky and colourful men's and women's clothing and accessories.  Most pieces are in the $100 - $200 range, so I was happy to have scored this cotton romper for $25.  I would definitely go back to Kind Exchange the next time I'm in Toronto (they have three locations).  You can sell, trade, or donate your gently used, unwanted clothing and accessories - most of their stock comes from regular customers in the neighbourhood.  Prices are very reasonable and both times I've been to the store I've found more than a few things I would have liked to bring home.

I was a klutz at tree-climbing when I was a kid, and apparently some things never change

Skunkfunk romper - Kind Exchange, Toronto
heart necklace - Black cat jewellery
crappy sandals - Joe Fresh

  1. What a fun romper! I always admire them...and then I remember what a pain they are for going to the bathroom!

  2. I would have to have a Skunkfunk piece just for the label, I think. : ). This is so cute, love your tree pose!

  3. I love the photo of you hanging out in the tree! Looks like fun. Romper is such a great word for an article of clothing. The label Skunkfunk makes it doubly fun. Glad to see I'm not the only one with crappy new but attractive footwear.

  4. I am so very behind! But just got caught up on your posts, the outfits that I've missed, and all of the fun that you've been having. The romper is great and the expression on your face, as you hang from the tree, is priceless. Summer has arrived!

  12. I love that romper! It's not too young for you at all! It's just the right amount of fabulous. Skunkfunk is very cool. Modcloth has a few of their dresses.

There's another Kind Exchange closer to my house. I really have to be in the mood to flip through everything on the racks since there can be a lot of stuff that's just *meh*. You look like you got a great piece.

  14. That's a great playsuit (romper suits are onesies in the UK!) I found a Skunkfunk skirt in a charity shop a while ago, it had similar quirky details, but I sold it on Ebay.
I LOVE the tree-swinging shot. You rock, Shelley! xxxxx
