Flower Power

Remember this guy?  Matt, of the brightly-coloured trousers here and here?  He's been taking sewing lessons because he hadn't been able to find ready-made shirts that he likes.  And what he likes, is bright colours and bold patterns like those on the shirt he's wearing in the photo above, one of his own creations.  As someone whose sewing skills are limited to doing a straight seam on a sewing machine, I am very impressed that he made an entire shirt, complete with collar, cuffs and mother of pearl snaps!

  1. Oh wow, I love this style for men. My aunt use to make bright patterned shirts for my dad back in the 60's so I think I must have developed an appreciation for them way back as a kid. Later in life I talked my dad in to giving me a few of the old shirts. I wore them until they fell apart in the washing machine. If I was a seamstress I'd definitely make wild fabric shirts.
I love hearing about people who want to learn something new and then actually setting out to accomplish it. Way to go Matt!!

  7. beautiful shirt, good job. Hardly any of the male students take the costume lab, it's too bad because the ones that do, do really well in it. One of them bought a sewing machine on Black Friday!
