Pride Comes in Many Colours - Part 2

This was my favourite photo of the day.  I noticed the woman wearing the rainbow lei (in the centre of the photo) sitting by herself in front of a senior's residence on Queens Ave., watching the parade, and went over to chat with her.  I told her how nice it was that she had come out to support the parade, especially when it was so hot, and she replied, "Not bad for 93, huh?"  I immediately ran back into the parade and pointed her out to the Derby Girls, who cheered, and then ran up to her for a photo.  She loved every minute of it, as did the Forest City Derby Girls!

Wonder Woman was there to provide some bubbles

Pink and green is one of my favourite colour combinations!  This participant had the good sense to bring a parasol for protection from the blazing sun.

There was certainly no missing this man's pride colours!   He travels to various Pride celebrations during the summer, selling rainbow-coloured merchandise to raise money for charity.

  5. Fantastic mustache!! What a great photo.
That top photo with the woman in her 90's reminds me of how inspiring the elderly can be. They remind us to enjoy the simpler things in life and to just "show up." Sometimes we think if something isn't going to be super exciting we'll just stay home instead. But life isn't near as interesting when we do. And I've heard so many older people say, "You've got to keep moving!"

  7. Great photos! You've really captured the spirit of the parade. Brilliant idea to get the Derby Girls with that lovely woman! Go team go! How fun that you joined. The parade is this coming weekend here, which coincides with a fireworks festival and a Monday holiday - so the streets are super festive. I'll try and get some pics too.

    1. I just walked with the Derby Girls for the parade - I didn't actually join the team. I'm too old to be getting knocked down and breaking bones!

  8. Part 2 is as beautiful as Part 1! Love the glorious photo of the Derby Girls with the gorgeous 93 year old woman. Denver's Pride Parade is in June, and always lights up the city.

  9. YAY! I love them all - the 93 year old beautiful lady is my favourite - the life she must have experienced, the changes in the world, the stuff she must have seen - and what a beautiful, wonderful smile she has!

  11. You just made my day. The energy, love, and colors are reverberating in my heart!!! My girl at 93 is the best. I'm so aware of the speed of life; 93 is right around the corner. I sometimes think people tend to fall into two categories: "yes" people and "no" people. She's clearly a "yes" person. That's what I want to be. I think that's what you are. Love what you share on this blog!!!!
